A beaded headdress, shirt, leggings, moccasins, tie, and belt owned by Chief Red Dog of Starblanket First Nation, File Hills, Saskatchewan, Canada. Collected by the Canadian Northwest Expedition in 1929.
The headdress is made from eagle feathers sewn onto a black felt cap, with the quill ends wrapped in red wool and stuck with yellow feathers. Sewn onto the crown is a beadwork strip with patterned triangles. Beaded panels run down the sleeves and over the shoulders of the fringed buckskin shirt, and have been sewn onto the leggings. The necktie is made of two pieces of cloth decorated with T-shaped beads. The fringed belt continues the motif of geometric patterns on a white bead background. Hanging from the left and right sleeves respectively can be seen a chief’s ceremonial club and fringed pipe bag. (Museum of Archaeology and Anthropology)
